Marital Stress

Are you experiencing marital stress?

Is your daily activity summed up as, go to work; look after the children/spouse; clean the house; go to church once, twice or thrice a week, to repeat it all over again the following week?

If so, you may be experiencing marital stress, especially if it leaves you feeling, despondent, angry or bitter or even exhausted with your lot.

Don’t wait for your husband or wife to diagnose your stress or provide support, look after yourself by doing something positive about it!

Some tips on easing marital stress are:

1.  Learn to share the load between you, your spouse and older children in your home – don’t be ’super mum /dad’.

2.  Learn to enjoy quality time as a couple and apart, doing things you enjoy.

3.  Don’t be a ‘yes’ person all the time, learn to say no as firmly, but as nicely as possible.

4.  Cut back on your outside commitments and don’t allow yourself to be ’snowed’ under.

5.  Live within your financial means and don’t spread yourself thin supporting extended family members (if you die or suffer from a stroke they will survive just fine without you!)

6.  Take regular family holidays with your spouse and children.

7.  Don’t allow in-laws or other outside forces ‘divide and conquer’ you.

8.  Take regular exercises to give you the feel good feeling and to keep you healthy.
